Alhaji Ahmed Abubakari Al-Hassan possesses B.A Hons (Geography with Economics) from University of Ghana, Legon; Graduate Diploma in Management from Mediterranean Institute of Management (MIM), Nicosia-CYPRUS; Qualifying Certificate in Law (QCL) from the Ghana School of Law. He is a Member of the Ghana Bar Association as well as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, Ghana.
Al-Hassan has worked variously at the State Insurance Company, the Ghana Revenue Authority and KPMG. At the Ghana Revenue Authority, he worked in Tax Collection and Assessment units for various periods; taught Management at the GRA Training School; worked in Tax Compliance Unit as Prosecutor; and was part of the team that prepared strategic plan for the integration of the Revenue Agencies in Ghana. At the commencement of the then Large Taxpayers Office (LTO) Mr Alhassan headed the Quality Assurance and Compliance Unit that handled taxpayers’ objections to tax assessment and monitored tax officers’ compliance with regulations, procedures and processes in tax. At KPMG, he worked in tax advisory where he offered tax advice in areas such as agriculture, manufacture, banking and other services.
His areas of expertise are Telecommunications, Mining, Oil and Gas, Manufacturing, Mergers/Take-over, Financial Services, Writing Opinions on technical/legal issues in tax, and offering advice on tax and regulatory environment in Ghana for foreign investors. Al-Hassan is a Consultant with the firm. He has been with the firm since November 1, 2015.
